A woman is like an ocean

by Bara January 09 | 2015

A woman is like an ocean

Men often think they need to be responsible for the result during lovemaking. And that’s why they try to do a lot more than is actually needed.

My friend inspired me when he said, “A woman is like an ocean and we can only enjoy the waves when they’re present. When those waves are absent, it doesn’t matter how good a surfer you are”.

In this moment I understood the message and how true it is for me. Women have an incredible quality to flood men with love and passion, and the man’s part is to learn to be ready for both the big waves and sometimes the little ones.

Because a cyclical woman may be still like a lake, and in the next second wild like the ocean under a storm. Rather than trying to change this fact, men can discover real femininity as it is. Yes, sometimes the wave may put you down, but then again, nobody succeeds without taking a risk.

Oceanic Women
If women are oceanic, then men have to be sailors fishing for the good things and rich rewards that they know are to be found, in the female waters, by those who learn the appropriate skills and do the necessary hard work.

Your body is your house

Your body is your house

This metaphor has two meanings for me. Yes, we live in this body that was given to us for this life. It’s up to us how we take care of it. Many people want to live a happy and healthy life; so they’re careful about what they eat and drink, and take part in activities to keep themselves strong and flexible. And they care about everything they put on the skin and so on.

Like with anything there is no universal approach for all people. It’s a lifelong journey searching for the best way to take care of your body. We simply have to experiment.

But the important thing to know is we have only one chance! We can’t go to a shop and show our receipt for an exchange; saying we want a new body because the old one is damaged.

Actually, you could think of it like a business; if I serve my body, my body serves me! Sounds absolutely simple, right?

At the moment I’m fascinated by cases of extreme obesity or, the opposite, super skinny. Those people are on the way to discovering that we need to be careful about what we eat and how we move.

This world is a confusing place for them. How can fast food be bad if it’s on every street corner? And why is coke and ice cream bad if it tastes so good? I’m having my struggles also; being happy and healthy is a big commitment. Day by day I need to remind myself what my intention is and choose how I eat, how I speak, how I do things, and behave towards others according to that.

If you reverse the sentence: “Your house is your body” maybe it doesn’t make sense at first. But the way we take responsibility and make a commitment to be happy in our body is connected to our awareness of how we take care of the environment we live in. For example, there are TV programs about people who hoard possessions until their homes are filled with junk. And it usually turns out that these people have not dealt with some pain in their lives, such as a personal tragedy, or are depressed in some way.

So this requires active involvement: when we decide to create our house according to our ideas and to feel more comfortable, we can then apply the same idea to our body. Caring about the little details can have a big effect in the end.

I find tidying the house is often emotionally cleansing for me, too. I get rid of the old dust that’s settled on things. And I throw out old stuff that only represents memories and is stuff I’m not actually using.

I was only keeping these things to hold onto old memories. By removing them I’m inviting new energy to come and I’m updating my life. Because life never happens in the past it’s about now.

After I’ve cleaned and thrown out things I can organise the things that our left and look forward to see what new things come ☺

We can apply that this tidying house metaphor for our relationships, for body cleansing etc.…

So make your space, organise and then only be surprised what your efforts will create for the future.

House cleaning
Some of us are just simply packrats!! :)) Not sure whether or not that is unhealthy!! But I do agree that it is useful to "clean house" and evaluate how much of the "stuff" is really valuable to us, and how much is just laziness and not taking the time and effort to make a value judgement (keep vs. toss). Memories are also useful and valuable!! Though living in them exclusively is not healthy, since by doing so we close ourselves off to new experiences. As always, an interesting and thought-provoking column!! Hugs, Michael

What is Tantra?

What is Tantra?

I’m hearing this question a lot. When I tell people about my job they are very curious about what Tantra actually means.

Their first reaction is that it has something to do with sex. Sure, it’s partly about sex (but hey, what isn’t?). I think everything in the world is about sex in one-way or another. It’s thanks to sex that we’re born and that we can have a passion for life.

So what is Tantra, if it’s not just sex? The word itself translates as ‘consciousness’. Tantric practice gives us the tools we need to become more conscious and teaches us how to connect to the energies within our body. In fact, it’s the way to move from only a sexual or platonic connection to the wholeness of being, to a complete experience. And sex is transformed into something bigger.

For me it’s a way to balance myself and to heal, and also to connect with my lover on a deeper level.

Learning magical sexual secrets is a part of it. But Tantra includes everything that happens in our life. It’s about our attitude, the way we look at things. Becoming more conscious means being clearer about your needs and desires, your limits and your goals. It means starting to use all your potential (because we usually don’t use more than 10% of it).

And as we’re slowly learning and walking the spiritual path we become more sensitive and begin to be our real self. So we lose the old default life setting that we were given by our parents, government, teachers and so on. Other people’s inputs and the institutions we study or work in often disconnect us from our greater potential, from our authentic selves.

So Tantra can help us to reconnect and live the way we had only previously dreamed about. Yes everything is possible; we just need to take action.

The potential is in everyone! You included.

What is Tantra?
For me, Tantra is the practice of a philosophy of unconditional love towards everyone that can lead, through sexuality to ecstatically transcendent spirituality. The path to transcendence is not easy, however, because the Ego and the physical aspects of sexuality create barriers to spiritual fulfilment that can only be overcome through surrendering expectations to the actual lived experience of Tantra.
